Repossession Down On Last Year
The amount of homes being repossessed has declined by 7.5% in the UK figures for the first quarter show. The amount of homes being repossessed has fallen from 10700 in the final months of 2009 to 9800 for the first three months of 2010. The repossession amount was also fewer than the figure of 13200 for the same time the year before. Looking at these figures brings hope that the struggling economy is finally starting to recover.
Lots of home owners are still in a vulnerable position however and due to this the Council of Mortgage lenders has decided to not revise its figure of 53000 repossessions for this year until summer 2010. This allows for any relapses the economy may have.
The number of homes repossessed is at its lowest in two years down by 7.5% compared to the previous three years. Of course, low interest rated were also taken into consideration and named as the main reason as to why people have managed to keep their homes from repossession. The data also reveals that the amount of mortgage holders falling into difficulties with payment declined in the first three months of 2010.
Around 629 households were helped under the mortgage rescue system in place in England , when the system was launched in January 2009 an estimated 6000 households was the target to help out. The system gives people the chance to sell their home to a local authority and remain living there as a tenant or to sell part of the home in order to help reduce the cost of mortgage payments.
With repossessions being down by a considerable amount for the first quarter of 2010 hope of economical recovery is obviously given a boost. It also shows that more people are beginning to look for alternatives to repossession.
